How World works
The front door and the catalog
World at world.lol is a front door for coins across chains, with category tabs, search and token pages with link-outs. The front door currently serves the shelf browser and chain strips sorted by volume. Popular and rising rails are coming. The catalog’s own list is ranked by market cap. These pages can have different sources and different read times.
How the front door reads its data
The World shelf browser reads shelf data and page settings files shipped with the site: the shelves file and the World flags file. The top list and search read the World markets API through the World top-list and search scripts. A shelf entry is not evidence of a fresh market reading.
How the catalog reads its data
The catalog reads market data and categories from CoinGecko. It orders market rows by the market cap value it received. Stablecoins are kept separately, and meme coins are removed from that market list. Optional CoinMarketCap category readings keep their source; they are not merged with CoinGecko categories. The current catalog therefore covers part of World’s wider scope.
Token pages and separate readings
Token pages show the data available to that page. A catalog entry does not establish that pool or chart data has been read. The documented pool and chart readers need separate page wiring; an unserved reading stays “not read yet”. Link-outs provide a way to open other pages, not a replacement for missing data here.
What “not read yet” and unread mean
A missing or non-numeric value stays unknown, with no read time. Before the first successful catalog read, its state is “not read yet” and its lists are empty. That is not a claim that there are no coins. An unread category is not the same as a category that was read and had no members. A failed read means the source could not be read.
Read times and failed updates
Each number keeps its own read time. If a catalog update fails, the last successful snapshot can remain visible with an error state. Its earlier timestamps stay attached; the failed update does not make those readings fresh. Without a timestamp, the page cannot give a reading an age.
The meme shop move
The existing meme shop is at clown.world.lol. Its move to world.lol/memes, alongside World’s wider catalog, is planned. The move does not make a missing reading available or establish that the destination is open yet.
