Clown SchoolLesson 5 of 6 · two minutes
Cross-chain in one sentence
Pay on the chain you hold; the route buys the coin where it lives and lands it in your wallet there. On Solana you sign a hold message, then the swap. A Base line also asks you to approve that coin first.
The sentence, slowly
Each coin lives on one chain. Your money may be on another. You do not have to move it first: you pay from the chain you hold, the route crosses for you, buys the coin on its own chain and lands it in your wallet there.
What the buy sheet shows
- The route line names the venue, and says bridge first with the minutes it expects when a crossing is needed.
- The route's fee figure is every step's, the bridge's included.
- The all-in number is still the number that leaves your wallet.
Signatures
On Solana each line asks the wallet twice: first you sign the hold message (clown.world: hold this buy before the wallet signs it), then you sign the swap. A Base line asks you to approve that coin before the swap, and that approval is its own signature. Your wallet shows each request before it signs, and nothing moves if it refuses.
While it crosses
A bridge takes minutes, not seconds. Until the coin has landed the receipt says the bridge is pending; pending is never shown as landed.
Which chains today
The shop sells on Solana and Base. Ethereum and Robinhood Chain are not in the menu until they are open.
