How to size a first one
Twenty-five dollars, the floor. Enough to feel it, not enough to matter. The buy box says why.
Start at the floor
The buy box's floor is $25. Type less and the line under the amount says so: smaller buys lose too much to fees. The chain's gas does not shrink with your amount, so on a tiny buy it takes a bigger share of it.
Enough to feel it, not enough to matter
A first buy is for learning how it goes: the quote, the signature, the receipt, the chart moving with your money in it. Pick an amount you would not miss if the coin went to zero, because it can.
What to watch on the first one
- The all-in number in the buy sheet. It is the number that leaves your wallet; nothing is added later.
- The expected slippage for your size on this pool (lesson 1).
- The receipt, which prints what arrived.
- How it feels when the chart moves against you. If that is too much at $25, it will be worse at $250.
The ceiling
During the beta a single buy stops at $1,000. Above it the Buy is blocked and the line says why: the cap lifts after the audit.
